Sheldon and Leonard are no strangers to bullies and Internet feuds, but on Thursday's episode of The Big Bang Theory, they will find themselves face-to-face with an online hater who hits them right where it hurts -- their work.

After the pair publishes a cutting-edge physics paper, they find themselves the target of a bully who knows just how to get under their skin, and they set out to take the faceless foe down.

"We had been talking about all of the hate that's out there on the internet -- not just against our show, but against just about everything and everyone, everywhere -- and how the anonymity of the internet encourages people to say things they'd probably never say in person," executive producer and showrunner Steven Molaro explains. "We had gone through a few ideas of how the guys could run across internet trolls before landing on Leonard and Sheldon publishing a paper.

Meanwhile, across the hall, the ladies of Big Bang spend the evening "revealing embarrassing secrets about each other," that may or may not lead them into the world of online fanfiction. "It's one of my favorite stories we've ever done," Molaro teases. "It was incredibly fun to shoot."

Big Bang Theory airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET on CBS.
