Back in the good ol' days of Napster's hey-day, real anime geeks could collect things known as Anime Music Videos (or AMVs). These were basically creations by folks that like to pirate music, anime, and video editing software. I never got much into the creation side of things, but one of the reasons I put together a media center PC way before anyone else thought they were cool was so I could play my AMV collection during parties (here's a hint on how long ago that was: I had to incorporate an Averkey unit for the PC to TV translation).
Nowadays, it's apparently something you can create a viable business from. Big Bear Entertainment just raised $550,000 in its first round of funding from El Dorado Ventures and Optix Pty Ltd to continue to create these mashups, according to VentureBeat today.
