Billy Joel Is the New King of Madison Square Garden

Madison Square Garden has named "Piano Man" singer Billy Joel as a new franchise, meaning he'll have a concert every month starting in January until his fans no longer want to come. Dubbed "Billy Joel at the Garden," it will be MSG's fourth franchise, behind the New York Knicks, Rangers and Liberty.

He has performed 46 times at the Garden since 1978. In addition to his previously announced four shows in 2014, he'll perform on May 9 (his 65th birthday). More concert dates will be announced later.

The news was live-streamed Tuesday from inside Madison Square Garden in what was called a "historic" announcement. The event, touted online with hashtag #BillyJoelMSG, was streamed on YouTube, Fuse, the MSG Network and BillyJoel.com.
