Even bears need hugs sometimes.

A young black bear has been spotted wandering and searching for a new home around several trees in a neighborhood on the outskirts of Marksville, Louisiana, during the past week.

The bear is one of several spotted in the area, according to wildlife biologist Maria Davidson. This time of year, mother bears chase off their cubs to prevent larger males from attacking them, Davidson told the Associated Press.

A mama bear's love is tough love.

The cubs are estimated to be about 18 months old and weigh between 125 and 150 pounds.

Another biologist, Ken Moreau, has been working with Marksville residents to safely lure the bear out of a tree with cat food and donuts.

Moreau and Davidson plan on giving the bear a full medical workup and fitting it with a microchip and GPS collar once the bear is in their hands, in order to learn more about the species' habits. There have been no reports of bear attacks in Marksville.

But really, it seems like this bear just wants a friend. And maybe another donut.
