An Austin, Texas couple ordered two omelettes to-go at an IHOP early on Monday and were shocked to find "BLACK PPL" written across the top of their receipt.

“My girlfriend came up to me and said, ‘You see the receipt?,'" Rolman Sparkman told a local Fox TV station. "'It says black people on there.’ I said, 'what do you mean it says black people?'"

The couple said they were even more surprised because the waiter, Dwayne Williams, is also black.

Williams later apologized for what he wrote on the receipt, saying it had been a busy morning. He was fired after the incident.

"You could have asked me my name," Ariana Brown told a local ABC TV station. "Don't label me."

IHOP released a statement saying the receipt was a "poor choice" and "is not keeping with policies and procedures. We recognize that it could be offensive and sincerely apologize."

Brown and Sparkman said they won't be going back there for breakfast food anytime soon.
