According to a study released by Bridge Ratings in September of last year, around 83% of a cross-section of Americans listen to the same or less terrestrial radio than they did six months prior. Roughly 90% of those same folks are turning to the Internet the same or more so than they did in the previous six months for their media consumption.  This is probably the motivation behind a shrewd purchase by Radio One this week.

According to a report from PaidContent, CommunityConnect has been purchased by Radio One, a radio network centered around the 'Urban Market' (translation: African-American). CommunityConnect is probably best known for being the parent company to African-American social network BlackPlanet, though CommunityConnect also owns social networking properties MiGente.com, AsianAve.com as well as the upcoming GLEE (for the LGBT community).
