It's probably the worst part of owning a suit: the dreaded dry cleaner. Sometimes too expensive, most times a hassle, the struggle is real for working adults who dress up.

A new startup invented a blazer you can throw into the wash without having to worry about expensive and irreversible destruction. Launched recently on Kickstarter, Brunswick Park's blazer made over $80,000, far surpassing its initial goal of $25,000.

The concept originated years ago when founder Jessica Garbarino worked in public relations for technology brands. She saw a lack of clothing that was both comfortable and sturdy enough to withstand a machine wash.

In her research, she discovered a unique blend of Merino wool with polyester spacers. The fabric made for great tailored pieces, plus wicked away moisture and was resilient to the tough cycle of washing machines. The real secret sauce, Garbarino says, is the fact that the materials are bonded together instead of sewn, creating strength.

"It allows the fabric to hang dry in a matter of hours," the 29-year-old says.

Sourced in Asia and made from a factory in Hong Kong that produces ski, military, fire safety garments, among others, the blazer is meant to last.

The blazer comes in charcoal and gray and retails for $299. Hoodies sell for $235. Garbarino says the company will release military green and oxblood colors in the future.

"Ultimately, I want people to realize that it matters what your clothing is made of," she says. "It's not about fast fashion, rather, items that will last. These blazers are built tough and will stand the test of time."
