If you have a BlackBerry mobile, you may have noticed that your email functions weren't working earlier today. Research In Motion's BlackBerry email service was down starting around 10 a.m. EST. Just before 4 p.m. EST, BlackBerry sent out a message saying that service had been restored, though some customers still reported trouble with their mobile email service.
BlackBerry has indicated that the problem was with those consumers using Research In Motion's hosted BlackBerry Internet Service. Those with the BlackBerry Enterprise Service were not affected. The latest reports note that BlackBerry has said it's investigating the outage. In all, it doesn't seem to have reached the catastrophic measures that Skype's outage experienced.
In other Research In Motion news, rumors are still circulating of a possible acquisition by Microsoft, causing its stock price to go up last week.
