Video search engine Blinkx is soon to launch a contextual video advertising network that will match ads based on speech recognition. The service, dubbed Blinkx AdHoc, will function much like Google AdSense, enabling advertisers to bid on keywords and have their ads appear when those words are spoken in a video or show up in the video’s meta data.

AdHoc will feature a variety of ad formats including pre-roll, mid-roll, and post-roll. Additionally, Blinkx will use more traditional contextual banner ads around videos. Publishers will be able to upload videos to Blinkx to have them indexed in their engine and have ads automatically inserted.
