Finally, Blinkx gives us something people want. Well, almost. The video search engine, which seems to be having the most success powering the search on partner sites, will launch Blinkx Remote today, a tool for finding full-length TV programs on the Web.

Remote uses Blinkx' speech-to-text transcription tech to hunt down episodes, and corroborates search results with information from Wikipedia and IMDB.com. It searches more than 7 million hours of online video (ie. the whole of the whole of the Blinkx index). A very neat feature: in addition to finding shows by title, it can find available episodes from particular seasons.

But don't get too excited: you can only view a preview on Blinkx.com, after which you'll need to head over to iTunes or another website to watch the full episode. And yes, many of these clips are paid downloads, meaning you may as well stick with YouTube for free stuff or go directly to iTunes if you want to drop some cash on downloads.
