Blogger (finally) Implements Email Comment Tracking

Blogger seems to have finally caught up to most other blogging platforms, at least in one feature. Today they added and announced the ability for readers of Blogger-powered blogs to subscribe to the comments via email. This makes it easier for readers to follow a conversation or developing story after they've posted a comment without constantly maintaining a tab or window on that particular blog post.

I actually found a way several years ago to simulate this feature for regular readers of my personal blog by creating a Google Group, and sending all comments and new blog posts to the email list, but with this new feature, readers will be able to add themselves to these ad hoc lists by simply checking a box in the comment form when they decide to comment on a particular post.

One caveat to participating Blogger comment conversations: you will need an active Google Account, as Blogger will only send conversation threads to email addresses registered with active Google Accounts.
