This just in: Women have body hair. While this statement may seem obvious to some, a selfie featuring a woman's stomach has gone viral due to people finding feminine body hair shocking or distasteful.

Suraiya, also known as Twitter user @iranikanjari, posted a selfie with the caption "walmart underwear vibes" in December. This photo has surged in relevance since then because Suraiya, like many other women, has hair on her stomach.

Twitter trolls responded to the photo calling Suraiya "chewbacca" and telling her to spend her money on a razor instead of a pair of underwear. Others insulted her for not including her face in the selfie. And some went as far as saying "No Shave November is over, boo" and creating memes of a razor shaving her photo.

Suraiya is not the first woman to receive social media flack for keeping her body hair. Celebrities like Jemima Kirke and Miley Cyrus have encountered similar backlash for their underarm hair.

Despite the plethora of hate Suraiya encountered, she said, "For any hate I received I got the same amount of love back ... I think women should just do what they want. No one should dictate what we embrace. If women want to embrace shaving, then shave, if they want to embrace being hairy — awesome."

This, according to Suraiya, made all the trolling worth it. Fans of the photo thanked Suraiya for her honest representation of a woman's body and told her they hoped to be as confident as her one day. She now has almost 10,000 Twitter followers.
