Launching Monday with 50 Android app integration partners, Box now works with a host of popular productivity-based Android applications including FetchNotes, iAnnotate, CloudOn, and Breezy. The OneCloud integration allows those apps to be fully integrated in with Box, so you can open files from your Box account within those apps, and save those files back to the app when you're done.

“We have some pretty dramatic shifts happening in our customer base,” Chris Yeh, Box's head of platform, told Mashable. “Thirty-five percent of our users are mobile-only and have never accessed Box using a laptop or PC.” (That 35% doesn’t include Box users who are using the service from a mobile device some of the time.)

Yeh says Box’s Android app has been downloaded 2.5 million times, and is currently downloaded 10-20 thousand times per day. “When we launched on iOS the most common request we got from our users was, 'Where’s the Android app for this?'”

Only 11 apps overlap between OneCloud for iOS and OneCloud for Android. “Android is a bigger growth platform than iOS,” says Yeh. “We have more users on Android than we do on iOS.”

Integrated round-trip, apps that are opened in a partner app can be read, edited and then saved directly back to Box. Files are encrypted when they leave Box, and are unencrypted by the partner app. When it comes time to save them again, they’re encrypted once again by the partner app, and unencrypted on Box -- keeping your data safe during the transfer between the two.

Box's existing Android app also now has a gallery where Box users can easily see what apps currently work with the service, as well as a new SDK for developers.
