A massive snowstorm is currently hurling towards the East Coast -- but don't worry, your favorite brands have your back.
Corporate Twitter lit up with blizzard chatter on Friday after the storm climbed to one of the top trending topics in the United States. Social media marketing teams latched on to the hashtag with everything from the usual dumb jokes to legitimately useful services to timely branded advice.
Some were to be expected: Dairy Queen, Netflix and the tourism bureaus of beautiful tropical places all had an easy time making the case for themselves to snow-bound consumers. Others had less of a claim on anything weather-related but made a wishful leap into the conversation all the same.
A few companies are even offering up practical benefits to those caught in the storm: Comcast is opening up its paywalled hotspots to anyone in the area for free, Verizon pointed out that its cell sites are equipped with back-up generators and Delta Airlines made sure everyone knew its people were working through the blizzard.
