In Thursday's episode of Bones, Brennan is finally dipping her toe into social media -- after a little prompting from her publisher -- by joining Twitter.

"She doesn't understand it at first and then she gets really competitive about it," Emily Deschanel, who plays the doctor, teased to Mashable last week. "She wants to have as many followers as possible, and she gets help from Jessica Warren, one of her interns."
In a nifty integration, Brennan will also send tweets throughout the show that will then appear on the character's Twitter account. (Word is most tweets will appear during the East Coast broadcast, but some new ones will be posted for the West Coast.)
Original tweets will continue to be sent throughout the season. Bones airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET on FOX.
