Google AdSense for Video is one of the bigger stories to emerge this week. Though the concept of online advertisements in the form of video embeds has not taken on with a great many viewers just yet - as a number of you in a poll arranged by Mashable editor-in-chief Adam Ostrow have shown - the trend, however young it is at present, is to future of ad-supported media on the Web, and Google is showing the clear foresight to enter the fold while the market is still in its earliest stages.

And, as is to be expected, Google has established an initial base of partnerships - with YuMe, Tremor Media, ExpertVillage, MyDamnChannel, Revver, to reiterate a few highlighted recently by Kristen Nicole - with which to begin building the new video-centric annex of its AdSense empire.

Indeed, that’s standard sales-speak if you’re privy Web marketing in all its various, hyperbolic forms. But perhaps Brightcove can be given some lee-way in its claims for anticipated success. Google, after all, is generally seen as a trustworthy advertising partner. (What with its proven ability to generate reams of cash not only for itself, but for its partners as well, large and small.) Brightcove, for all intents and purposes, is hedging its bets on what is almost certainly to be the surest thing in Web video advertising - especially down in the proverbial long tail, where a great deal of money is consistently being made. What’s not to look forward to?
