Brijit is Digg for Writers

Brijit is a community for readers and writers to highlight quality content across the web. This extreme focus on niche content is structured into something that mimics a Digg network, where individuals are "bookmarking" web content and also have the opportunity to offer their own description for the community.

Brijit's users don't just write a description, they write an actual abstract of 100 words or less, and get paid for them. This is somewhat similar to Techdirt, a model that's expanding to other mediums in media, like GeniusRocket. Now other users and site visitors can search the site for content, get a clear synopsis of what's going on, and enjoy the measures that have been taken by Brijit (and other users) to weed out the junk.

On Brijit's home page you'll find the content broken down into a few different forms of digestible "buckets" for you, such as most recent, editor's picks, most popular and featured. These can all be subscribed to on an individual basis. You can also begin a search on Brijit starting with the original resource provider, or by category.

And in an effort to become even more of a "quality Digg" for readers and writers, Brijit has launched a new "bucket" for its content, which is effectively a week in review of the site's most popular content, called the Brijit Index. Now you get a glance at what's been popular in the past 7 days.

While this is a nice perspective on a content-driven site, it's extremely limited in its current state. I don't see any ways to access an archive of the indexes, and it can't be exported via widget. And having a "top" list such as this is a purely fleeting feature without further integration throughout the site, such as recommendations or related content based on a particular week's index.
