LONDON -- Be prepared to groan very loudly when you get to the end of this one.

In a WhatsApp conversation that was presumably inspired by the practices of a well-known Simpsons character, Londoner Jack Lampe has pranked his girlfriend in a way that really couldn't be any more British.

This is Ellie Ward from Essex, UK, who has -- in her own words -- an 'evil evil boyfriend.'

Ward took to Twitter last Sunday to share the WhatsApp exchange.

It all started with Ward's boyfriend mentioning a strange man who had contacted him.

Ward said she'd never heard of the guy, even after her boyfriend described his appearance.

Eventually Lampe said the mystery man was going to send a picture...

...And he revealed the man's full name: 'Scott Chegg.'

Oh dear.

Since being posted last Sunday, that WhatsApp exchange has been retweeted over 12,000 times.

'Scott Chegg' even has his own Twitter account now.

Mashable has reached out to Ward and we will update this article if we receive a response.
