LONDON -- Most of the time, it's hard to believe that we even have a summer here in the UK. Between rainfall and below average temperatures, it often feels like we're stuck in eternal winter.
But even the most torrential of rain won't stop us enjoying our final month of "summer," which, according to the Met Office, will officially end on 22 or 23 Sept. There's a whole bunch of things to cram into the next month, so we certainly won't be letting the weather have its way.
Here are the 15 that we'll be making sure we fit in before summer draws to a close.
1. Do something that probably won't happen again
Like queue up at 4 a.m. for day tickets to see Benedict Cumberbatch in Hamlet. That's a once in a lifetime event if there ever was one.
2. Get lost in a maze
Nothing says summer like spending the remaining hours of light worried that you'll never see your parents again. Head to Longleat (pictured) or Hever Castle for some of the best.
3. Have a boozy picnic
What's summer without a drink in the park? For this one, any green space will do. Even that tired spot of grass in front of your shed. Yep.
4. See an outdoor play
Weather permitting - or not - outdoor theatre provides a completely different experience. Check out this list of events on National Trust properties nationwide.
5. Go to an amusement park
Old school funfairs come up trumps in this category, so head to Dreamland in Margate or good ol' Blackpool Pleasure Beach for a hair-raising day out.
6. See a film but not in your regular cinema
Let's face it, everything is better when you take it outdoors. Both The Nomad Cinema and The Luna Cinema still have showings this summer.
7. Go for a walk
Pick a walk, any walk. The National Trust have a whole host of guided walks across the country for all skills and ages.
8. Have a drink on a rooftop
Because drinking under the stars is far better. If you're in London, mosey on down to Frank's (pictured) in Peckham.
9. Get a sleeper train somewhere far away
Go to sleep in London, wake up in Cornwall. What could be better? National Rail have more information for those of you with itchy feet.
10. Eat some street food
The street food revolution is upon us and my, is there a lot to choose from. Our pick is Dinerama (pictured) in Shoreditch Yard, London.
11. Go to a Carnival
It's the party of the year and, lucky for us Leeds (events from 23-31 Aug), Hackney (13 Sept) and of course, Notting Hill (30-31 Aug) are yet to get in the spirit of things.
12. Follow a trail
Like the Shaun in the City trail in Bristol. Or, any trail for that matter; make your own, follow the jelly beans.
13. Sit in a garden
Getting some fresh air doesn't have to be as boring as laying your towel out on the concrete; The Forbidden Corner, North Yorkshire (pictured) has sculptures and hidden delights round every corner.
14. Do a river walk pub crawl
Just make sure you don't go for an impromptu swim on your way to the next pub... Pubsgalore have a crawl marked out along the Thames, or create your own.
15. Go for a swim at a lido
Even if there's no summer heat to escape...
