Britney Spears has joined Tumblr by way of her blogging intern.
The blog itself is not spectacularly interesting -- unless, perhaps, you're a die-hard Spears fan who follows her every quotation and press release -- but it does underline communication professionals' growing awareness of Tumblr as a media platform.
Although many big-name fashion and media brands have joined the service, few celebrities have done so to date. The addition of internationally recognized names, such as Bill Gates, the Dalai Lama, Kanye West and LeBron James, have been critical to Twitter's growth in mainstream recognition as well as users. We expect Tumblr will follow a similar path to public awareness.
