The Boss is telling his story again -- this time with the pen.

Bruce Springsteen will publish an autobiography this year called Born to Run, sharing a name with his mainstream breakout album from 1975.

According to a release from publishers Simon & Schuster, Springsteen has been working on the autobiography for the past seven years. It will detail his upbringing in Freehold, New Jersey, and his journey to becoming one of America's great rock musicians -- in other words, a fully annotated companion to the album of the same name.

"With disarming candor, he also tells for the first time the story of the personal struggles that inspired his best work, and shows us why the song 'Born to Run' reveals more than we previously realized," reads the release.

Born to Run will be released internationally on Sept. 27.

“Writing about yourself is a funny business,” Springsteen writes in the book. “But in a project like this, the writer has made one promise, to show the reader his mind. In these pages, I’ve tried to do this.”
