LONDON -- Millions of tourists stand outside Buckingham Palace every year. Many take selfies, others hope for a glimpse of the Queen and probably everyone wonders about what happens beyond those black and gold gates.

For two months each year the palace opens sections up to the public and this year for the very first time visitors will enter the state rooms through the grand entrance, the same way dignitaries, such as heads of state, would enter if invited by the Queen.

Ahead of the summer opening, photographers captured scenes from inside the palace.
