Several months have passed since we gave the social gaming developer Bunchball a headline. Now we’re hearing from The Deal of its recent capture of $4 million in investments from return funders Granite Ventures and Adobe Ventures. Over the last two years, the company has expanded its reach in the social networking space to build games for users of MySpace, Facebook, as well as Piczo, Hi5, and Friendster, and even members of the boomer-specific network Eons. Bunchball has also made deals with companies like NBC to deliver entertainment for visitors to the websites of NBC Sports as well as the game-like component to the page of the hit comedy series “The Office.”

We first gave the company a mention back in early 2006, and since then it seems to have managed to grow at a relatively steady rate. The only overt mentions of outside funding for its operations were its announcement of $2m raised in October 2006 and more recently this $4m infusion, which it seems to have very quietly raised in a Series B round in January.
