A British woman has died in a bungee jumping accident in Granada, Spain.

Kleyo De Abreu, 23, of London, died on Tuesday afternoon after jumping off Tablate Bridge near Lanjaron, police said Wednesday.

British Foreign Office officials confirmed the death.

"We are liaising with the Spanish authorities and have contacted the family to offer support at this difficult time," they said.

An investigation is under way. One line of enquiry is that there was a miscalculation with the rope, according to police.

The bridge is a popular bungee jumping spot and is used by several adventure sports firms, according to reports.

Jumpers fall for around 20 metres and swing under the bridge, with the experience costing around 35 euros (£25).
