LONDON -- Next season's hottest bag? Look no further than the backpack.

This is, at least, a trend Burberry Prorsum is pushing for next season. For its spring/summer 2016 collection on Monday, set inside a tent at the beautiful Kensington Gardens, the British brand showcased its most youthful collection yet. It's clear Burberry is evolving with the times and taking conscious moves to become as relevant as ever. This collection mixes high and low, the runways and the streets, making it one of the freshest -- and approachable -- Burberry showings in years.

It's hardly a surprise. Under the careful watch of the brand's creative director, Christopher Bailey, Burberry has launched many an innovation in the past few weeks alone. Earlier in September, the brand unveiled its own curated music channel with Apple Music. A day before the show, Burberry teased its entire collection on Snapchat.

"The way that social media has changed the world, there are no boundaries between cultures any more," Bailey said backstage to the Guardian.

This was certainly showcased in the entire runway show. The clothes spoke urban, downtown, street -- three adjectives the British brand would, just a season ago, be unfathomably associated with. There were oversized hoodies, capes, ribbed biker jackets and a new take on the classic trench coat: more fitted with sexy details such as lace.

And of course, the backpacks, the many of them. Every other model had one slung over their thin backs, styled together with gowns, lacy dresses and long, flowing trousers. They were monogrammed with initials, to boot. Even Cara Delevingne had her own with a huge "CJD" (her middle name is Jocelyn) stamped on it. She sat front row next to girlfriend St. Vincent, Kate Moss, Sienna Miller and Benedict Cumberbatch.

Never has a backpack been so lust-worthy since Prada's own nylon version. In a matter of one runway show, Burberry proved that something so simple and ordinary is a must-have bag. A backpack thrown together with a gown? Watch for it on the next red carpet.
