Hold onto your chili fries, there may be a Burger King mashup burger in your future after all.

After McDonald's unceremoniously rebuffed Burger King's offer to collaborate on a McWhopper for International Peace Day, fast food lovers worldwide cried into their chicken nuggets.

We may have spoken too quickly.

Wayback Burgers, a private Connecticut-based burger chain, Southern restaurant chain Krystal and Denny's are all willing to pair up with Burger King to support the cause.

While Burger King's initial McWhopper ask started as a movement to recognize World Peace Day, it now looks more like a crazy circus stunt involving Franken-burgers and Twitter wars.

Wayback CEO John Eucalitto said in a statement, "Our nine patty burger, The Triple Triple, could be a great vehicle to work with. Perhaps we could create the Whiple Whiple." A representative of the company told Mashable though it hasn't received contact from Burger King, it would be open to collaborating with any and all restaurants interested for International Peace Day, "If no one wants to collaborate, we are up for the challenge ourselves."

We have a #SteamyProposal for @BurgerKing. A new way to #SettleTheBeef for #PeaceDay. Accept, your royal Burger-ness? pic.twitter.com/ZhppAGsKqC— Krystal (@Krystal) August 26, 2015

Krystal put out the call on its Twitter page, saying in a statement designed as a royal proclamation: "We'd be honored to join y'all (Burger King and Peace One Day) in continuing your day of peace in Atlanta. We propose working together to create the first tiny square Whopper (We're partial to the Kropper, the Whystal, or the Tiny King.)"

hey @burgerking …or the Whoppaslam©? The Slopper©? The Slamopper©? wouldn't that be whopperslamalicious?! https://t.co/t1FACtBhgv— Denny's (@DennysDiner) August 29, 2015

Denny's took out full-page ads in both USA Today and the New York Times inviting Burger King to create a Slamburger/Whopper mashup. The restaurant's ideal burger would mesh the Whopper with Slamburger ingredients like fried eggs, bacon and hashbrown potatoes. Name suggestions from Denny's include the eWhammper and the Whoppaslamus-rex.

People are still talking about Peace Day, but now they're talking about it more in terms of who will join the fray instead of how we will start the peace.
