The McWhopper saga has taken an unexpected and epic twist.

Burger King announced via Facebook and Tumblr that it would like to collaborate with any and all takers on a one day only pop-up restaurant featuring "The Peace Day Burger."

The letter says the proposition to McDonald's still stands. If McDonald's wants to join the party, the company is more than welcome, despite the CEO's sarcastic retort.

Denny’s, Wayback Burgers, Krystal, and Giraffas, we’d like to build on your individual proposals to collaborate on Peace Day, September 21, 2015. Our idea would be that we all come together to create a burger that combines a key ingredient from each of our signature sandwiches.

Burger King revealed it is already constructing a pop-up restaurant (ostensibly in Atlanta, the location Burger King originally proposed to McDonald's). All that's required of the other restaurants is a donation to nonprofit organization Peace One Day, and "a simple yes."

This could mean that the Whopper-Triple-Slider-Slamburger is in your future (plus an addition from Giraffas, a Brazilian fast food chain).

Maybe McDonald's will even put on a party dress and join the celebration.

Some might say Burger King really wins here. The McWhopper proposal achieved massive publicity and the upper hand in offering to partner with these restaurants. Ultimately, though, it's about International Peace Day; the general public is recognizing this important event like never before.

So no matter how long the line, no pushing and shoving for your limited edition burger — this is all in the name of peace.
