Busta Rhymes was arrested and charged with assault Wednesday night in Manhattan after throwing a protein drink at a gym employee, according to the AP.
The rapper, real name Trevor Tahiem Smith Jr., had been exercising at the Steel Gym in Chelsea. A New York Police Department spokesman says the rapper and employee had been "in a dispute that escalated," the AP reports.

A witness painted a slightly fuller picture of the event to local news station WPIX, saying that the gym's manager started the altercation with Rhymes, and "got in his face."
Another witness told The New York Daily News that Rhymes and the manager have had "bad blood" for a while.
Rhymes later posted an Instagram photo with a lengthy caption about the event.
Thanks to everyone who helped expedite this evening for me. I'm good and we're back to the grind. Heading 2 the studio 2 turn the bullshit into GREATNESS. I'm super good. #THECONGLOMERATE. A photo posted by Busta Rhymes (@conglomerateent) on Aug 5, 2015 at 11:29pm PDT

The rapper's lawyer, Scott Leemon, tells The New York Daily News Rhymes is going to get through this.
“This is clearly an attempt by someone to take advantage of Busta. He did nothing wrong,” he says. “This is a bunch of bull.”
