Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, a Republican who has struggled to gain traction in the polls or make it onto primetime debate stages, announced Tuesday that he is suspending his campaign for president.
Jindal was upbeat as he made the announcement during an appearance on Bret Baier's show on Fox News. But he said the "crazy, unpredictable election season" left little interest in his detailed policy papers. He said his next move, as his time as Louisiana governor ends due to term limits, would be to move to America Next, the think tank he founded several years ago.
It’s been an incredible honor to run for President of this great country. Thank you: https://t.co/IhDcIWOSg8 pic.twitter.com/iRTJ7Bl5IW— Gov. Bobby Jindal (@BobbyJindal) November 17, 2015
"We live in a great country," he added. "I'm not going to stop fighting for my conservative beliefs and principles. ... The reality is, this isn't my time."
Jindal also refused to endorse another candidate, saying "I don't think the American people care," and reiterating he would support the eventual GOP nominee.
