LONDON – When you're baking something for someone it's the thought that counts, right?
Well no, not always. Sometimes even if the thought comes from the best place in the world, the end result is so abhorrent that the only safe recourse is a life-time baking ban for the individual responsible.
With the new season of The Great British Bake Off upon us (and to show just how ridiculously impressive their baking skills are in contrast to the following), here are some cakes that didn't quite turn out as planned.
1. This swan cake with a toilet paper roll for a head.
2. This chocolate hedgehog, which didn't quite go as planned.
3. This mildly terrifying Easter bunny.
4. This nightmare-inducing kitten cake.
5. This lamb, which gets top marks for shape but bottom marks for everything else.
6. Also this attempt at a lamb cake, which didn't quite live up to expectations.
7. Basically, any time anyone's ever attempted to make a lamb cake.
8. This poor, squashed manatee.
9. Pikachu, is that you?
10. This terrifying pink hedgehog thing.
11. This attempt to recreate Thomas the Tank Engine in cake form.
12. This adorable yellow duck.
13. This turkey, which sadly seems to be missing a head.
14. This 'Winnie-the-Pooh' cake, which looks a bit like a dying polar bear.
15. This slightly unnerving Minion cake.
16. And this deeply disturbing Minion cake, which is clearly just days away from executing its plans for world domination.
