LONDON -- We're used to hearing about cannabis plants and hothouses, but this discovery is a little more unusual. Police in London tweeted their alarm Friday when they found a whole forest of cannabis plants.

Kingston upon Thames police were called to what they thought were going to be a few cannabis plants, instead they found a forest of something that looked more like cannabis Christmas trees.

The overgrown plants are in some cases as tall or taller than the police officers standing among them.

Police were alerted to the unusual find by a member of the public and stumbled upon the 150 or so plants -- some over 5 feet tall -- on disused private land in the leafy suburb of Kingston.

"The area these plants were growing on was the size of a football pitch, it looked like a small forest of Christmas trees and was complete with a gazebo," PC Sarah Henderson, of Kingston borough said in a statement.

It's bad news for whoever had the somewhat half-baked idea -- the whole lot will now be destroyed.
