Carly Simon has revealed what we already knew: "You're So Vain" is really just a self-fulfilling prophecy.

The singer recently told People that Warren Beatty, who thinks the song is about him, is right. Sort of: "I have confirmed that the second verse is Warren," she clarifies. The other two verses, says Simon, are about men whose identities have not been confirmed after four decades of speculation.

But Simon adds that Beatty has overestimated his importance: "Warren thinks the whole thing is about him!"

Simon has previously stated that the song isn't about Mick Jagger, who contributed backing vocals on the track, or her ex-husband James Taylor.

And if you're hoping to find out the other subjects from Simon's upcoming memoir, Boys in the Trees, you're in for a disappointment. She doesn't see herself offering up that information publicly anytime soon.

But Taylor Swift already knows. Of course she does.
