Redditors around the world are overjoyed to learn that their boring and rebellious cats can actually do tricks. Well, sort of.

Anyone with a cat can try out the difficult task called "CatCircles," and find out once and for all whether he is the disobedient, inconsiderate jerk you suspected.

On Sunday, Reddit user admancb started the phenomenon with a post to r/aww titled "Trick your cat with a circle." Redditors have found a glitch in the Cat Matrix, finally tricking their cats into doing something useful -- even if that trick only requires sitting in one specific place.

You may wonder: Why do the cats choose to sit in the circle? User TheVanishingMan asked, "Is there some psychological reason why cats do this?"

Although no definitive conclusion was reached, many speculated about the nesting activities of certain animals (and, of course, supernatural powers).

Others didn't bother with the psychological reasoning behind cats' thinking and simply pounced on the trend. The rules are simple, even for the feistiest felines:

Make a circle.

Take a picture of your cat in the circle.

Upload that picture to Imgur.

Submit the picture to Reddit.

The majority of cats obediently sat in their circles, though not all cats were fooled by the mystical circles. Some simply sat wherever they wanted.

Other cats showed their devil-worshiping tendencies.

The trend has inspired its own community, r/CatCircles, where you can share your cat's success story or sob story. Or maybe the cats are tricking us all, and this is all a game of inception? Only time will tell.
