CBS Connect App Brings Stars and Viewers Together on iPad

CBS Connect, a new second-screen app for iPad, aims to make it easier for people watching CBS shows to interact with other viewers and even stars from the network's programming.

The free app landed in the iTunes Store on Thursday. It will filter conversations about each CBS show from Facebook and Twitter into a central location in the app so viewers won't have to bounce from one social network to the other while watching TV.

CBS Connect is similar to the feature of the same name on CBS.com. The iPad app also offers synced experiences for CSI, Hawaii Five-0 and NCSI: Los Angeles.

The sync capabilities for the three shows allow users to get a tailored second-screen experience whether they're watching an episode live or later at their own convenience. The sync feature will work starting with the Jan. 8 episode of NCSI: Los Angeles, the Jan. 14 episode of Hawaii Five-0 and the Jan. 16 episode of CSI.

Actors, directors, producers and writers will participate in interactive live chats, where they will answer questions from CBS Connect users.

People can also check out a schedule of primetime shows, look at photos from their desired shows, see behind-the-scenes videos, view maps, read character backstories, take quizzes, vote in polls and preview new episodes.

CBS previously launched a similar app in September specifically for season four of NCIS: Los Angeles. CBS will add more shows to the new CBS Connect app in the coming months.
