CBS Delays 'Mike & Molly' Finale in Wake of Oklahoma Tornado

CBS will hold off airing the scheduled May 20 finale of comedy Mike & Molly because of the massive tornado that wreaked havoc in Oklahoma on Monday, the network told Mashable.

Mike & Molly stars Melissa McCarthy as a fourth-grade teacher and Billy Gardell as a cop. The final episode was set against the backdrop of a destructive tornado. Here's the description:

Mike and Carl get stuck working at the Renaissance Faire after their boss, Patrick, gets dumped by Mike's mother. Later, as a tornado descends on Chicago, Mike and Molly confess important news to each other, on the third season finale ...

“Due to the tragic events this afternoon in Oklahoma, we are pre-empting tonight’s season finale of Mike & Molly, which has a related storyline," a CBS rep said via email.

CBS will instead air a previous episode of Mike & Molly and broadcast the finale "at an appropriate date," the spokesperson added.

Monday's twister reportedly destroyed homes, schools and commercial properties.

The show's Twitter handle also tweeted this:
