LAS VEGAS — The Consumer Electronics Showcase is in full swing, but as new innovative technologies are introduced one thing is still holding them back -- water.

As humans, water is essential to our everyday life, but it's a killer to our electronic overlords. Although there are waterproof gadgets on the market, most electronics won't survive if you accidentally drop them into the toilet.

At CES this year we have noticed that waterproof speakers are becoming the norm and waterproof phone cases are getting slimmer. Hopefully, it will only be a matter of time before more waterproof electronics, specifically phones tablets and laptops, are the norm.

Until then, you're just going to have to live in constant fear of dunking your electronics, or ditch the sleek cases for a waterproof one.
