In case its most recent airport-themed fashion show didn't make it clear, Chanel loves to involve travel in its events.
The fashion house plans to show its 2016/17 cruise collection in Havana, Cuba on May 3, it announced in a press release Tuesday. This marks the first time a major brand will host an event in the capital city since diplomatic relations resumed between Cuba and the United States in early 2015.

This is also the label's first show in Latin America. Chanel has previously staged shows in Seoul, Dubai and Singapore. The "cultural richness and opening up of Cuba" has always inspired Karl Lagerfeld, the head designer and creative director of Chanel, according to a statement from the brand.

Largerfeld isn't the only designer mesmerized by the colorful Havana streets.
Since communication with the country widened, fashion insiders have flocked to the island. Stella McCartney and Proenza Schouler's resort 2016 presentations were both based off of the country's culture; W Magazine brought models Adriana Lima and Joan Smalls to Cuba for a photoshoot; and Vanity Fair photographed Rihanna there for its November 2015 cover.
