In a continuing effort to clean up Facebook - too many applications cluttering your profile, and an endless stream of senseless news in your feed - some new rules are coming down the pike this week.

Effective 9 AM PDT on Tuesday morning, January 22nd, application developers will have to start changing the mini feed stories to reflect only people who are active "actors." (A tad redundant?)

According to Facebook developer Ari Steinberg, news stories such as "John has received a present" will no longer be allowed. Over at Inside Facebook, they are saying that stories such as “Justin gave a present to John” would be acceptable, as both parties are listed.

Developers will have a one month grace period to comply with the new rules.
