Fox's standalone Gambit movie, starring Channing Tatum as the titular card-slinging mutant, will burst onto the silver screen on Oct. 7, 2016.

The Magic Mike actor alerted his 17 million Facebook fans and 6.7 million Twitter followers about the release date in succinct missives, which 20th Century Fox later re-shared.

(function(d, s, id) { var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0]; if (d.getElementById(id)) return; js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id; js.src = "//connect.facebook.net/en_US/all.js#xfbml=1"; fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs); }(document, 'script', 'facebook-jssdk'));

This means three X-Men-related movies will arrive in 2016. Aside from Gambit, Fox is stacking the deck with Deadpool and X-Men: Apocalypse that year.

X-Men: Days of Future Past producer Lauren Shuler Donner confirmed in May that Tatum would suit up as Marvel's kinetic energy-manipulating Gambit.

“He’s a rogue. Channing, he’s a rascal, just like [Gambit's alter ego] Remy LeBeau,” she said. "And he can handle the action, well all know that, and he’s got a real good heart because I know him personally. ... He'l be great for Gambit. And he's a southerner .... he understands that world, and you know Gambit loves New Orleans.”

The 34-year-old's previous action-packed roles include White House Down and G.I. Joe: Retaliation -- plus Magic Mike if you consider performing stripper moves as "action."
