Was Channing Tatum channeling Gambit or his inner teen at the Golden Globes?

The actor's hair was cropped close on one side and swept angrily to the other. It also appeared darker than Tatum's normal shade. In short, he looked like Fall Out Boy frontman Pete Wentz circa the mid-2000s.

Eagle-eyed Golden Globes watchers did not take long to express their opinions about Magic Mike's new 'do.

Many viewers wondered whether Tatum donned the curious coif for his upcoming starring role as the Marvel superhero Gambit -- or if he was simply acting out some time-released teenage angst.

The hair came as a surprise to fans who most recently saw Tatum on the Jan. 7 episode of Lip Sync Battle, where he covered his shameful secret up in a Beyoncé wig.

Though Tatum kept up his confidence on the red carpet and on the Golden Globes stage as a presenter, he couldn't sway popular opinion.
