The Charlatans 10th studio album, You Cross My Path, will be available in its entirety as a FREE download from Xfm’s website www.xfm.co.uk and the Charlatans official site from Monday 3rd March 2008. The album will then get a physical CD and vinyl release, in 33 countries, on May 19th through Cooking Vinyl. This will include a deluxe edition and strictly limited vinyl 45’s box set of the LP. The album is preceded by a free single download, through XFM and The Charlatans site, entitled Oh! Vanity, on February 25th.

It is also worthy of note that a camaraderie of sorts seems to be forming in this new 'underground' distribution technique. The record producer that mixed You Cross My Path and The Inevitable Rise and Liberation of NiggyTardust, Alan Moulder, is best known as the producer for Nine Inch Nails, The Smashing Pumpkins and The Jesus and Mary Chain. Now, he's making a new name for himself as producer to the free crowd. One can only hope it is a start of a new profession that sees great success.
