LONDON -- Big dress, big hair and even bigger crowds. Prince Charles' 1981 wedding to Lady Diana Spencer was billed as the wedding of the century, with thousands gathered around Buckingham Palace and millions more watching on their televisions around the world.

Most people are familiar with the photo of the newlyweds from the palace balcony or as they both waved to onlookers from their horse-drawn carriage, but new photos emerged this week that capture some of the behind-the-scenes moments.

The photos are part of a collection up for auction by RR Auction in New Hampshire, which were captured by Lord Patrick Lichfield, the Queen's first cousin once removed and the only photographer allowed to take informal photos at the wedding reception. They were put up for auction by his photographic assistant.
