Charli XCX's bonkers new video battles terrifying social media demons

Don't you hate it when you're hanging out in your bedroom dancing around and texting your friends when, suddenly, your phone runs out of battery and demons come out of your closet to haunt you?

That's the struggle in Charli XCX's new video for "Famous," directed by Eric Wareheim, of Tim & Eric, who has carved out a pretty good side gig for himself directing absurd music videos.

The video takes place in a not-so-alternate universe of extreme social media dependence.

To recharge her Apple products, the heroine must brave a harrowing world where she must watch two ads on YouTube before she can open her bedroom door and people bleed emoji.

There are selfie sticks, too. So many selfie sticks.
