By plane, photographer Simon Roberts was able to "chase" the sun to experience a perpetual sunsets.

Roberts embarked from Reykjavik, Iceland in late February, when the days are long but the sun still sets that far north. Flying in the opposite direction of the Earth's rotation, he was able to capture 24 distinct sunsets in the same day due to the changing time zones.

The journey was part of a project entitled Chasing Horizons, which is actually an ad campaign for Citizen watches.

Simply put, the pilot on the project, Jonathan Nicol, explained the technique by saying "we have to keep the aircraft steady ... in the space/time continuum and let the earth turn under us."

They, of course, kept track of the time using Citizen's flagship model, the Eco-Drive Satellite Wave F100, which adjusts to the current time zone you are in in just three seconds.

As a photographer, a sunset isn't something that Roberts would normally create a series around, but told Mashable that "chasing the sun around the Earth, existing in a perpetual twilight hour, we were pushing technical and physical boundaries. It was simultaneously exhilarating and challenging."
