LONDON -- Giant teapots pouring out blooms, colossal cookies stuffed with white roses, a Thai buddhist temple teeming with purple and pink petals and a handful of random vikings -- it can only be the Chelsea Flower Show.

Thousands of people are expected to visit the event, which takes place in the grounds of the Royal Hospital Chelsea in London, with dozens of gardens scattered across a site equivalent to the size of 500 double-decker London busses.

Prince Harry visited the annual event on Monday ahead of a visit by his grandmother, the Queen, later in the day. The prince was there to look at the garden created for his charity Sentebale, which helps children in Lesotho. He said parts of it are "exactly like Africa".

Here are 17 colourful photos of the show.
