Usually when an automaker introduces a new product, they like to frame it in a modern or futuristic way. Not Chevy. To introduce its latest crate motor (an engine you can buy in a box, sans car), Chevy bolted it under the hood of a 1970 Camaro RS. The result is a vintage car from the Nixon administration era with an exceptionally modern heart: A LT4 6.2-liter V8 that makes 650 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque. Giddy-up.

As for that engine, it's noteworthy for several reasons. Not only has it been ripped from the frame rails of the Corvette Z06, which gives it some serious bona fides, it is also General Motors' most powerful production-vehicle engine ever.

The rest-mod Camaro, which has been both restored and modified (get it?), also features a new T-56 Super Magnum six-speed manual transmission and a Hyper Blue Metallic paint job -- both of which have been borrowed from the all-new 2016 Camaro. Combined with a restored but retro interior -- complete with a roll cage -- the '70 'Maro features an instrument cluster that works with the modern V8 under the hood.

While resto-moded Camaros are a virtual dime a dozen these days, I think you'll agree that this one has been done very well, indeed. If you'd like to see more custom builds like this one from Chevy, you can check them out at the 2015 SEMA (Specialty Equipment Market Association) show in Las Vegas this week.
