A woman dove into a freezing lake to save her iPhone

Netizens are buzzing about a Chinese woman who jumped into a two-metre deep lake in Beijing, China to retrieve her iPhone 5.

According to People's Daily, the unidentified woman did not waste a moment when she accidentally dropped her phone into the Longtan Lake and dove in fully clothed. The temperature on the day of the incident was reported to range between -2 and 9 degree Celsius.

Last Thursday, a 50-year-old Chinese woman jumped into an icy lake in Guizhou to save a boy that was drowning after he fell in. Her valiant act made international headlines and won her plenty of admiration.

Unfortunately, the same can't be said for this woman who valued a phone over her own life.
