Few details have been released around his death, including the time or circumstances, but Audigier revealed to TMZ in April that he was diagnosed with Myelodysplastic Syndrome (a blood disorder) earlier this year. Audigier was reportedly receiving chemotherapy until going through a bone marrow transplant in March.

Audigier was admitted to Cedars-Sinai Hospital before his death, slipped into a coma and recently woke up, a source told LA TF.

“I just heard the news and I am truly devastated. Christian was an incredibly brilliant man. He will be missed,” Michele Elyzabeth, Audigier’s publicist, told LA TF.

Though infamous for his designs rhinestone and skull embellishments, the French designer was known for making the Ed Hardy brand a household name among celebrity clients. Celebrities from Britney Spears to Michael Jackson to Kim Kardashian wore his designs in the mid-2000s. He was reportedly worth $250 million at the time of his death.
