LONDON -- Lauren Mayberry of electro-pop trio Chvrches has spoken out about being a target of misogynistic online trolls in an interview with Channel 4 News' Cathy Newman.

The artist, who regularly uses her position in the public eye to condemn misogyny, made clear that it should not be a case of regulating trolls, but rather society's attitude toward and treatment of women that must change.

"It's scary the idea of lawmakers coming in and sifting through comments and deciding what is acceptable and what isn't and it's unrealistic to expect companies to do that. In my mind, there has to be a shift in the cultural approach to women."

Well said, Lauren.
