U.S. Senator Claire McCaskill (D-MO) announced in a Tumblr post Monday that she has been diagnosed with breast cancer but added that her prognosis is good.
McCaskill, who's served in the senate since 2007, added that she and her staff would be in touch during the three weeks that she'll be on leave from the senate while she recovers from surgery in St. Louis.
She added she intends to post on her website how she would have voted on every vote she misses while in recovery, which she'll also enter into the congressional record, and intends to send questions for any committee hearings she'll miss.

Not too long after the news hit the Internet, McCaskill's colleagues began to rally around her in a show of bipartisan support, including current Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, whom McCaskill endorsed back in 2013.
